How to increase traffic to your site or Increase your page rank

How do you increase your web traffic and page rank? Here's what I have found out.

In order to increase your page rank in Google's eyes, your website needs to have many other web sites linking to it. The higher the number of links, the more "popular" your site is, in Google's eyes. So, how do you get sites to link to you?

Method 1 - Do a search on Google on sites that you think are related to what your site or hub is about. Here's a neat feature I found out - in Google search box, do a link:<website name> and enter. The results will show which sites are linking to the website. From the results, you then can check out the top ones, go to their websites and write to them to ask them to exchange links with you. This means emailing them to tell them that you'd host their link on your site if they will do the same for you. If you're successful in linking to more sites, I'm sure more traffic will DEFINITELY come to your website.

Backlinks - What I've read is that backlinks can help drive traffic. While this is true, it's an awful lot of work to go to all these social bookmarks and forums and submit your articles or leave your web signature there. There must be a better way. I think Method 2 outlined below is a much better way.

Method 2 - This is a great method I have found - there's a site called Link Market (added a screen shot below) - www.linkmarket.net, that actually helps you exchange links with other web sites. They act like a middle man. You log in for a free account and then browse their directory with links of other web sites that you would like to exchange links with. Once you found a suitable site, just submit it. LinkMarket will do the rest. You'll be notified via email once the other website owner is notified and has added your website to their site. You then do the same for the other website. The service is free for you to add up to 5 sites a day. Atfet 24 hours, you get to add 5 more. I think that's good enough to get things going.
